BIOGRAPHY
Born in Buffalo, Kyle Chandler spent his childhood in Loganville, a small town in Georgia, on the family farm. After obtaining his degree in dramatic arts at the University of Georgia, he was spotted in 1988 by a talent scout. The apprentice actor then moved to Los Angeles and landed his first roles on television…

After a few TV films ( Unconquered , Quiet Victory ), he ended up appearing furtively in series like China Beach and Freddy’s Nightmares . In 1990, he became a soldier in and then a baseball player in Homefront , a critically acclaimed series set after World War II. This first regular role allowed him to be noticed and he eventually landed his first role in the cinema, in Pure Country .

His real breakthrough came in 1996, with Demain à la Une . For four seasons, he played Gary Hobson, a man who receives the next day’s newspaper every morning and has the opportunity to change events. However, after the end of the show, luck is no longer with Kyle Chandler. He appears in projects with no future, such as the sitcom What About Joan with Joan Cusack , the legal drama The Lyon’s Den with Rob Lowe or two pilots not selected by the channels ( Capital City and Lies and the Wives We Tell Them To ).

In 2005, audiences rediscovered him in the blockbuster King Kong , in which he played the popular actor who lands on Skull Island alongside Naomi Watts . However, it is still television that will give him his chance. In 2006, he appeared in the post-Superbowl episode of Grey’s Anatomy and received the Emmy for best guest in a drama, just before embracing, in his early forties, the most significant role of his career in Friday Night Lights . He becomes Coach Eric Taylor in Peter Berg ‘s adaptation of his homonymous film . It’s total recognition. Acclaimed by critics and the public, the series lasted five seasons and earned him an Emmy nomination for best actor.

In 2007, Peter Berg once again offered his confidence and hired him for his feature film The Kingdom , then, in 2008, the actor was again called to the big screen for The Day the Earth Stood Still . In 2010, he was the first actor to be cast in Super 8 , the film ofJJ Abrams who stands out as a declaration of love to Steven Spielberg ‘s cinema .

From then on, the actor multiplied the projects and systematically made the right choices: we found him in particular in Argo by Ben Affleck and Zero Dark Thirty by Kathryn Bigelow , two films that received much attention at the 2013 Oscars and which won several statuettes. After starring alongside the most prominent young actors of the moment in The Spectacular Now ( Miles Teller , Shailene Woodley , Brie Larson ), he appeared in the cast of Scorsese ‘s The Wolf of Wall Street , five times nominated for an Oscar. While he plays the leading role in the Netflix series Bloodline , which has enjoyed great critical success, he plays the jilted husband in Todd Haynes ‘ Carol , another film praised by the Academy. In 2016, he starred in Kenneth Lonergan ‘s acclaimed Manchester by the Sea , with Casey Affleck and Michelle Williams .
