Kogi Govt prohibits illegal mining

The prohibition of illegal mining across the 21 local government areas of Kogi State has been announced by the government. Bashiru Gegu, the Commissioner for Solid Minerals and Natural Resources, revealed this decision while briefing the press on Friday. He emphasized that no individual or company would be allowed to engage in mineral exploration or mining without the necessary licenses from the Federal Government or cooperative certificates for artisanal miners and valid community development agreements. Security agencies have been directed to take immediate action against any individuals or companies found violating these regulations. Gegu warned that illegal miners would be prosecuted, as the state will no longer tolerate any form of unauthorized mining.
