His local work led to joining “Canada AM” in 1973 as a newsreader, and he held positions such as weekend anchor, producer, and CTV reporter, receiving awards for his coverage of the Yom Kippur War.
In 1982, Morrison joined the Canadian Broadcasting Corporation as a substitute anchor in “The Journal” and “Midday”, then moved to Los Angeles in 1986 to work as a news anchor for KNBC-TV. Two years later, he joined NBC News, becoming a correspondent for the “Today Show” and “NBC Nightly News”.
