Joe Pesci was born on February 9, 1943 in Newark, New Jersey, to an Italian father, Angelo Pesci and Mary (née Mesce). Raised in Belleville, New Jersey, Pesci attended Belleville High School. Pesci had a passion for entertainment and by the age of 5 he had started acting in plays. Her first on-screen gig was on the television variety show, Startime Kids

Pesci also nurtured a passion for music and learned to play the guitar. Alongside his friend Frankie Valli, Pesci participated in the creation of the group, the Four Seasons, before playing in several other music groups. Like his mother, Pesci became a part-time barber while pursuing his interests in show business. He is due to release his debut album Little Joe Sure Can Sing! (1968) consisting of covers of contemporary hit songs.

He would eventually meet Frankie Vincent and the two would perform at clubs across New York. Alongside Vincent, Pesci made his film debut in the 1976 low-budget crime thriller, The Collector of Death.

Three years later, Robert De Niro was able to see the film and impressed with his performance, introduced him to Martin Scorsese, allowing him to enter into what would become a long-term working relationship. His first Martin Scorsese film, Furious Bull (1980) made him an overnight star. He won a BAFTA for the role and an Oscar and the rest, as they often say, is history.

Joe Pesci shone in the 80s and 90s, accumulating an enviable resume.

Pesci was enjoying his time off until his close friend, Robert De Niro, asked him to make an appearance in his 2006 film, The Good Shepherd. He would then score a few gigs including an appearance in a 2011 commercial. Fans were thrilled to learn that Pesci would be working with longtime collaborators Robert De Niro and Martin Scorsese in the mob thriller, The Irishman (2019 ).
