BIOGRAPHY
Jerry O’Connell grew up in Manhattan with his brother Charlie , and dreamed from an early age of becoming an actor. After a few commercials, he got his first film role in 1986 in Rob Reiner ‘s Stand by Me . His remarkable performance quickly opened new doors for him. In 1988, he became the hero of the series My Most Beautiful Secret , where he hid supernatural powers for 3 seasons. After a role in Charles Takes Charge , then the short comedy series Camp Wilder (1992), he rose to notoriety in 1995 when he got lost in the parallel worlds of Sliders . Following a failed experiment, Quinn Mallory is condemned to “slide” from dimension to dimension with her companions in misfortune. Jerry O’Connell leaves the series at the end of its 4th and penultimate season. At the same time, he has a rich career on the big screen. After Calendar Girl (1993), he joined forces with cockroaches to prevent a senator from razing their habitat in the fantasy comedy Joe’s Apartment (1996). The same year he played in Jerry Maguire , with Tom Cruise in the title role, then moved to horror in Scream 2 (1997), seduced by the tragic scenario of Kevin Williamson . In 2000, O’Connell was sent with Gary Sinise and Tim Robbins on a rescue mission to the Red Planet in Mission to Mars . He then went on to make comedies like Tomcats (2001), Kangaroo Jack (2003) and Fat Slags (2004). In 2005, he appeared alongside Dennis Quaid and Rene Russo in A Family 2 in 1 . He found success on television from 2002 by joining the Boston police in the series Proof . He plays Detective Woody Hoyt, who regularly helps Dr. Jordan Cavannaugh ( Jill Hennessy ) in his investigations. He also participated in an episode of FBI: Missing (2004), and lent his voice to a character in Justice League (2005).
