Jaylen Brown is a fast-rising American professional basketball player who has come a very long way in a relatively short amount of time. He began playing professionally after making the 2016 NBA draft and was selected by the Boston Celtics with the third overall pick.

Born October 24, 1996 in Marietta, Georgia, Brown is the son of Mechalle Brown (mother) and Quenton Marselles Brown. He was raised in Georgia, where his mother raised him alongside his older brother, Quenton Brown (Jr.), with help from his grandmother.

Before he started playing professionally, Brown attended Joseph Wheeler High School in Marietta, Georgia and the University of California, Berkeley. During his senior years, he hit two free throws within 0.6 seconds, which made his team the winner of the Georgia High School Association (GHSA) AAAAAA State Championship. Even as a senior, Brown averaged 28 points and 12 rebounds while leading his team to an overall record of 30-3.

At university, the fresh talent played for the Golden Bears for a year under coach Cuonzo Martin and proved to be invaluable capital. In 2016, he received All-Pac-12 honors for his first team and was named Pac-12 Freshman of the Year.

In 2016, Jaylen was drafted into the NBA, he was On June 23, 2016, he signed a three-year contract with the Celtics worth over $14 million and made his debut for the team on October 26 against the Brooklyn Nets.

Jaylen was a prolific 2016-2017 season, playing in 78 regular-season games with 20 starts. He averaged 17.2 minutes on the floor, 6.6 points, 2.8 rebounds and 0.8 assists. As a result, he was named to the NBA All-Rookie Second Team at the end of the season.

During the 2017-2018 season, Jaylen Brown recorded highs in his first three games with 25 points on October 17, 2017; 27 points on November 18 and 26 points on December 13. However, he was sidelined for two weeks in March due to a concussion, but returned on April 6, 2018 to claim 32 points that helped set another career record in the 111-104 win over the Chicago Bulls.

At 21, he became the youngest player in team history to score 30 or more points in a playoff game.

Based on the contract he signed with the Celtics, Jaylen’s annual salary started at nearly $5 million for the first two seasons (2016/2017 and 2017/2018). However, it will increase to more than $5 million, $6 million and $8 million in the coming three seasons up to the 2020/2021 season.
