Nicknamed Haitian Sensation or JPP, JasonPierre-Paul was born to Haitian parents who immigrated to the United States in the 1980s prior to his birth on January 1, 1989, in Deerfield Beach, Florida. The American football defense is currently with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers of the National Football League (NFL).
Jason was a wonder to behold during his days of playing college football. Thus, the New York Giants wasted no time in picking him in the first round of the 2010 NFL Draft, after which he made the team proud of his success with two Pro Bowls and a Super Bowl XLVI win.
Before the NFL, Jason Pierre-Paul was just a student at Deerfield Beach High School, who played basketball so well, but after four years on the court, a leg injury put him off football. . By the time he graduated from high school, the defensive team had 51 tackles and 19 tackles against his new team at College of the Canyons in California. His college career, however, was cut short after his freshman year as a junior when Jason Pierre-Paul declared himself a candidate for the 2010 NFL Draft, dropping out of his senior year in college.
NFL Career
Jason Pierre-Paul entered the National Football League for the 2010 season after the New York Giants selected him in the first round, the 15th overall pick in the NFL Draft of the year. The deal with the Giants was signed on a five-year, $20.05 million deal with an $11.629 million guarantee. Subsequently, his NFL debut came on September 12, 2010, when he opened for the New York Giants with two tackles. By the end of the season, he had played in 16 games, totaling 24 solo tackles and recording 4.5 sacks. As a result, Pro Football Rosters named him a member of the 2010 All-NFL Selection Team.
In his second season, Pierre-Paul has more playing time, recording 12 begins. He was selected to his first Pro Bowl and was named a first-team All-Pro. Despite having back surgery in 2013, Jason Pierre-Paul was intercepted by Scott Tolzien and turned him over for another touchdown. He also finished the 2014 season with 12.5 sacks, 77 tackles, three forced fumbles and six passes defended.
In 2015, Jason was tagged with a franchise tag by the New York Giants which was non-exclusive. Later in the season, he suffered a serious hand injury in a fireworks accident at home. It cost him his right index finger, but didn’t stop him from signing a one-year deal with the Giants on Oct. 27. However, the injury took its toll as he lost weight and had to wear a padded vest for his injuries. hand which had a negative impact on his performance.
In 2016, he received an offer from the Arizona Cardinals but opted to stay with the New York Giants. The season saw him named NFC Defensive Player of the Week. He underwent sports hernia surgery and missed the rest of the season.
The franchise sticker was given to him in the 2017 season, this time he signed a four-year, $62 million contract with the Giants with a $40 million guarantee. Nonetheless, he was traded by the Giants to the Tampa Bay Buccaneers on March 22, 2018. It was the third-round pick of the 2018 NFL Draft and a fourth-round pick trade.
