James Francis Gunn Jr. was born on August 5, 1966 in St. Louis, a city in the state of Missouri. Gunn, who was raised Catholic, received his high school education at Jesuit St Louis University and his college education at St Louis University, where he studied art. It must be pointed out that James Gunn did not stumble into the film industry by accident. As a child, he began writing and directing his own films, often using his brothers as actors. James Gunn comes from a family of eight father, James Francis Gunn and mother Leota. He is the eldest of six siblings, most of whom are also involved in entertainment. His brother Patrick was an executive at Artisan Entertainment (a film studio and home video production company).
