During the New Year’s Eve performance of 2021, George Lopez left the stage in mid-performance, because of his illness. The following performances were also canceled. It was reported that he had flu and he was treated by paramedics. He then went back home to recover. After recovering, he started to concentrate on his career. He has appeared in many standup performances, and now he is appearing in a TV series called Lopez vs Lopez. Currently, he is alright and not suffering from any illness.

His ex-wife Ann Serrano gave him one of her kidneys and he had a kidney transplant surgery in 2005, and because of that, he is being immunosuppressed and prone to any illness.
