Indra Valija Petersons was born on June 22, 1980 in Los Angeles. She was born to parents Dr. Viesturs T. Petersons and Silvija Petersons. Indra has two older brothers, Astra and Brita. While very little is known about her early life, we do know that she is of Latvian descent but she is American by nationality.

Now coming to her academic studies, Indra joined La Canada High School in La Canada, Flintridge, California. Petersons then joined the University of Arizona and graduated in 2002 with a bachelor’s degree in Atmospheric Physics. In addition, Indra specialized in mathematics, physics and business.

Indra began her career in meteorology as soon as she graduated from her university. He started working for KVIA in El Paso, Texas, in 2002. Later that year, Indra was offered a job at KEYT in Santa Barbara, California. After spending just under a year at the network, he took on a new position at KABC in Los Angeles, where he spent nearly 10 years.

However, things took a turn for the better when Indra joined CNN for their “New Day” program. While on the net, Indra was able to establish herself as the chief meteorologist, covering various weather segments for CNN Newsroom alongside Errol Barnett. While working with CNN, Indra was able to find a lot of fame and gradually became one of the most prominent journalists in the industry. In more recent years, Petersons has been working for NBC News, having left CNN. She also holds a Certified Broadcast Meteorologist certificate from the American Meteorological Society.
