In a recent Vanity Fair interview accompanied by a stunning cover shoot for their April issue, Gisele Bundchen, aged 42, has opened up for the first time about her divorce from NFL star Tom Brady. She described the split as the ‘death of her dream’ and expressed that the widespread speculation surrounding their separation was ‘very hurtful.’ She emphasized that she only ever wished for Tom’s dreams to come true.
Gisele expressed her unwavering support for Tom, stating, “Listen, I have always cheered for him, and I would continue forever. If there’s one person I want to be the happiest in the world, it’s him, believe me. I want him to achieve and to conquer. I want all his dreams to come true. That’s what I want, really, from the bottom of my heart.”
She vehemently denied that her divorce had anything to do with Tom’s decision to return to the NFL, asserting that the split has been ‘like a death and a rebirth.’ Gisele explained that the reason behind their 13-year marriage coming to an end was that they simply ‘grew apart’ and realized that they wanted ‘different things.’
“Sometimes you grow together; sometimes you grow apart,” she said. “When I was 26 years old and he was 29 years old, we met, we wanted a family, we wanted things together. As time goes by, we realize that we just wanted different things, and now we have a choice to make. That doesn’t mean you don’t love the person. It just means that in order for you to be authentic and truly live the life that you want to live, you have to have somebody who can meet you in the middle, right? It’s a dance. It’s a balance.”
Despite her divorce, Gisele emphasized that she is not ‘against football’ and loved watching Tom on the field. She also defended Tom’s final season with the Buccaneers, attributing their losses to his teammates, stating, “It’s a team sport and you can’t play alone. I think he did great under the circumstances. I mean, he had no offensive line.”
Tom and Gisele finalized their divorce on October 28, expressing mutual gratitude for the time they spent together.
The announcement of their split followed weeks of speculation about their marriage, with many rumors suggesting tension caused by Tom’s decision to return to the Tampa Bay Buccaneers for another season.
Since their split, Gisele has been linked with two men, but she insists that she is not dating either person, stating, “‘I think, at this point, unfortunately, because I’m divorced, I’m sure that they’re going to try to attach me to anything.”
