In Tampa Florida on January 6, 1982, Gilbert Jay Arenas Jr. was born to a teenage mother who tried her best to raise him properly but failed. When he was two years old, his father, who was working in an auto repair shop at the time, came on the scene after receiving a call that his son was going into foster care. Gilbert Arenas Sr. decided to step in and take full custody of his son. There is no information available about his mother, but it is known that the next time he saw her would be after 20 years.
Gilbert Jr. grew up in Los Angeles after his father moved there to pursue a career in acting and modeling, specifically in the San Fernando Valley area. He was enrolled at Ulysses S. Grant High School where he played basketball.

At the end of the season, he moved to a new team, the Washington Wizards and was with them from 2003 to 2010. His contract with them was for six years worth $60 million. Gilbert’s time on this team has been tumultuous and laden with an equal number of wins and losses. While playing for the Wizards, fans nicknamed him not only Agent Zero, but also Hibachi, a name that means “a bowl of fire” – a nod to his fiery method of play.
Trouble came knocking on the door in December 2009 informed the public that Arenas had firearms in his locker, which resulted in an investigation and a one-year suspension for the remainder of the 2009/2010 season. ; the suspension was also fueled by poor behavior on his part. When he returned for his sixth season with the Washington Wizards, he changed his number from 0 to 9 in an attempt to shed his past and present himself as a better person.
After his contract with Wizards ended, he played one season for the Orlando Magic, Memphis Grizzlies, before joining the Shanghai Sharks of the Chinese Basketball Association. Gilbert Arenas currently works in broadcasting.
