George Floyd’s GoFundMe Campaign Garners Record-Breaking $13 Million in Donations



A record-setting $13 million has been raised by a GoFundMe campaign aimed at supporting the family of George Floyd. This represents the highest amount of donations ever received through the platform.

The ‘Official George Floyd Memorial Fund’, initiated by Floyd’s brother, Philonise Floyd, has amassed over 450,000 donations, totaling $12,987,100 as of Friday morning (June 5). The original fundraising goal was set at $1.5 million.

A spokesperson from GoFundMe, in conversation with TMZ, confirmed that the Official George Floyd Memorial Fund has seen the highest number of individual donations for any GoFundMe page.

The spokesperson also noted the global reach of the campaign, with donations pouring in from 125 countries.

Philonise, George’s brother, stated that the funds will cover funeral and burial expenses, provide counseling, cover lodging and travel for all court proceedings, and support the family as they seek justice for George. Additionally, a portion of the funds will be allocated to George’s estate to care for his children and their education.

In a separate development, Floyd Mayweather contributed $88,500 towards George Floyd’s funeral costs after offering to finance four separate services in Houston, Minnesota, Charlotte, and one yet-to-be-confirmed location.

Reportedly, Mayweather’s representatives conveyed to TMZ that “he is just doing what he feels is right in his heart.”
