After being labeled a witch and neglected on the streets of Akwa Ibom, a young boy was rescued five years ago by Danish aid worker Anja Ringgren Lovén. She recently shared before and after images, depicting the remarkable and heartwarming transformation.

“A few days ago one of Land of Hope supporters asked me how Solomon is doing. Not because I don´t share pictures of him, but it´s been long since I have made an update about his progress.”
For our new followers, we saved Solomon five years ago, precisely on July 30, 2017. He was discovered on the streets, and I was contacted via Facebook since I was in Denmark at the time.
I immediately contacted David, who acted swiftly, and with our team, we rescued Solomon and brought him to the hospital.
Land of Hope’s nurse, Rose, stayed by Solomon’s side in the hospital for an extended period. He was in critical condition, prompting me to start a fundraiser to cover his medical expenses.
The picture of Solomon when we found him speaks volumes. It was a dreadful and pitiful sight.
Solomon was unjustly accused of witchcraft, shunned by the community, and left to die when we found him.
Today, five years after his rescue, Solomon is vigorous and thriving. He has grown and progressed rapidly, gaining significant strength.
Solomon is serene and courteous. I cannot recall a single instance of him getting into any trouble at school or with the other children at Land of Hope.
Solomon enjoys reading and is performing decently in school. He is observant and interacts socially very well with his peers.
Living with many children with strong personalities and attitudes (guess who), it’s not always easy to make oneself heard, but I have personally witnessed Solomon gaining more confidence and expressing his thoughts.
