BIOGRAPHY
After studying drama at the Otto Falckenberg school in Munich and at the famous Lee Strasberg Theater Institute in New York, Franka Potente was spotted by a casting agent in a Berlin club. In 1995, she debuted on the big screen with the lead role in the comedy In the Virgin Forest After Five O’clock , for which she received the Bavarian Award for Most Promising Actress.
After a few TV films in Germany, Franka Potente acquired international notoriety in 1998 thanks to the thriller Run, Lola, run! , directed by Tom Tykwer . After this enormous success in Germany, which saw her wander the streets of Berlin in search of her boyfriend, the actress distinguished herself in the horror film Anatomy then in the romantic drama The Princess and the warrior , again in front Tom Tykwer ‘s camera .
Building on her international success, Franka Potente stands out in Hollywood. We see her in 2001 in the credits of Blow , with Johnny Depp , but it is especially as Matt Damon ‘s companion in Memory in the Skin and Death in the Skin that she stands out. Appearances in large productions which did not prevent her from evolving in more intimate films, such as the thriller Creep , in 2004, where she found herself a prisoner of the London underground.
