Following his transfer to Saudi Arabian champions Al-Ittihad, footballer N’Golo Kante has reached an agreement to acquire Belgian third-division side Royal Excelsior Virton.

The former Chelsea and Leicester City midfielder is set to take over ownership from Flavio Becca starting July 1, as announced by the club on Thursday, June 29.

The financial details of the deal were not disclosed by the club, which is located near the Luxembourg border.

In a statement, the club expressed the satisfaction of Flavio for handing over the club to Kante, highlighting Kante’s on and off-field qualities. The handover is taking place with the club being in a healthy financial state and free from debt. A new board of directors will be appointed in the coming days.

Kante, who achieved success in the Premier League with Leicester and Chelsea, departed Europe after winning major titles. He also played a pivotal role in France’s 2018 World Cup triumph. His new two-year deal at Al-Ittihad is reportedly valued at £172million.
