BIOGRAPHY
Florence Pugh is a British actress, born on January 3, 1996, in Oxford, England. Although she grew up and spent part of her childhood in Oxfordshire, Florence moved with her family to Andalusia, Spain, where she lived during her teenage years. There she studied at the Sotogrande school, where she began to feel attracted to theater and comedy. Returning to England, Ella Florence studied at Wycchwood School for a brief period, before moving to the prestigious St. Edward’s School, Oxford. Her debut as an actress was in the film The Falling (2014) starring Maisie Williams ( Game of Thrones ) and directed by Carol Morley. For this film, Florence was nominated and won at the London Film Festival for best new British actress. In 2015, she lands the lead role in the pilot of the television series Studio City . The following year, she participated in the lead role in the film Lady Macbeth (2016), for which she won The Evening Standard Breakthrough of the Year award. That same year, the actress was named “star of the future” by Screen International magazine. After the success of the film, Florence has seen her career progress rapidly, with appearances in films such as Malevolent (2017), The Passenger (2018), Fighting with My Family (2018) and Outlaw King (2018), among others. In 2019, Florence starred in two of the films that would confirm her importance in the new generation film industry: Midsommar , by Ari Aster, and Little Women , Greta Gerwig’s new version of the literary classic. For this last production, the actress was nominated for Best Supporting Actress at the Oscar for her role as Amy March.
