Reports of mistreatment of Nigerians in China have prompted the Federal Government to summon the Chinese Ambassador to Nigeria, Zhou Pingjian.
Nigerians in China have been sharing videos on social media, alleging mistreatment in the Guangzhou area over the last two days.
On Thursday, Minister of Foreign Affairs, Geoffrey Onyeama, held a meeting with Mr. Pingjian to discuss the issue. In a tweet, Mr. Onyeama stated that he urged the ambassador to engage with Chinese authorities to address the matter.
The Chinese Ambassador to Nigeria, Mr. Zhou Pingjian, was invited to convey @NigeriaGov’s serious concern regarding the allegations of mistreatment of Nigerians in Guangzhou, #China, and requested immediate intervention from the Chinese Government. #StayHomeSaveLives #COVID19 @DigiCommsNG @NigeriaMFA
