Festus Keyamo, Minister of State for Labour and Employment, engaged in a tense confrontation with lawmakers over the National Directorate of Employment (NDE) recruitment on June 30. A video captured the exchange.
One of the lawmakers expressed their intent to ensure Keyamo’s efficiency and compliance with proper procedures.
However, when the lawmaker mentioned the constitutional responsibility of exposing corruption, Keyamo retorted, “how can you expose corruption without the cameras.”
Prior to Keyamo being asked to leave, a lawmaker repeated, “this is not a place to grandstand.”
Previous to this incident, Festus Keyamo had accused certain politicians of attempting to blackmail him and take control of the recruitment for the federal government’s Special Public Works (SPW) Programme.
