The family of Otunba Michael Olasubomi Balogun, the founder of FCMB, has announced his passing with heavy hearts and gratitude, surrendering to the will of Almighty God. He passed away at the age of 89 after a brief illness in London, United Kingdom, on Thursday, 18th May 2023, surrounded by his family.
While mourning his passing, the family is grateful for the full life he lived and the legacy he left behind. This legacy includes hard work, entrepreneurship, excellence, tenacity, courage, faith, style, discipline, and commitment to God, the church, family, community, philanthropy, and Nigeria.
The family has been comforted by the outpouring of love and sympathy, as well as the kind words and expressions of warmth. Books of condolence will be available from 11 am on Monday, 23rd May 2023, at his homes in Lagos and Ijebu Ode, as well as at specific offices, including FCMB Group Headquarters in Lagos and other FCMB offices, and Chapel Hill Denham in Ikoyi, Lagos.
