F45 co-founder Rob Deutsch has made a mega property purchase, buying up a $25.5 million harbourside apartment in a ritzy Sydney suburb as the company he founded falters.
Deutsch and his wife, model Nicola Perso, closed on the apartment in Crown’s One Barangaroo tower in central Sydney, accepting the staggering price tag without a mortgage.
The building is one of the most minted in the country, home to dozens of rich-listers — chief among them being Crown’s former majority shareholder James Packer, who owns a $72 million apartment set across the tower’s entire 48th and 49th floors.
Deutsch’s other new neighbours will include multi-millionaire Robert Whyte, tech entrepreneur Rob Khuda, venture capitalist Bob Blann, LaserClinics’ Babak Moini and former Rothschild Australia chairman Trevor Rowe.
His new four-bed, four-bath abode, bought from Hong Kong-based businesswoman Huanhuan Zheng, boasts panoramic views of the Sydney Harbour Bridge and Opera House — bizarrely obscured by a massive chrome pillar that sits in one corner.
Deutsch co-founded the gym franchise F45 with businessman Adam Gilchrist (not the cricketer) in 2013, but cashed in on his share in 2019.
The brand has suffered a tough few years, with a staggering number of franchisees racing to get out.
Back in March, News.com.au counted 48 F45 gyms listed on sales website anybusiness.com.
The lowest priced franchise was selling for $59,000 while the highest two gyms were listed at $2.1 million for both.
It meant one in every 10 F45 gyms in Australia was in the process of being sold.
Since stepping back from F45 five years ago, Deutsch has been rather busy in the real estate game.
His ritzy new apartment last sold off the plan two years ago for $22.5 million — meaning its value jumped by $3 million in just 24 months.
It’s the second trophy home bought by Deutsch and Perso in the months after their wedding in December, having closed on a $37.5 million home in Sydney’s Bellevue Hill, again with no need for finance.
That five bedroom, five bathroom house on 1286 sqm was bought off-market for the newlyweds to use as their main residence, just weeks after they married in the Southern Highlands in December 2022.

The sale came at around the same time Deutsch bulked up his earnings, offloading his luxury Mermaid Beach villa in Queensland for $2.85 million after just five days on the market — a nice profit after he purchased it for $2 million in 2019.
Fellow F45 co-founder Gilchrist, meanwhile, stepped down as chief executive of the company last year.
He, too, has been on a property blitz ever since, selling two neighbouring Freshwater houses for a combined $22.8 million and listing two NSW North Coast investment properties.
