Ex-NFL player Matt Ulrich is dead

The late NFL player, Matt Ulrich, has passed away at the age of 41. Colts owner, Jim Irsay, announced Ulrich’s death on Wednesday, November 8, expressing sadness at the news. Ulrich, who won a Super Bowl with the Indianapolis Colts in 2006, was only with the team for a short time, but his impact was felt throughout the organization.

Irsay shared, “I am heartbroken to hear of the passing of Matt Ulrich. Matt was with us only two seasons, but left his mark on many. Great guy, I hear he was a great dad—and he was a Super Bowl champ. My prayers to his family.”

Ulrich was a standout athlete at Streamwood High School in Illinois, excelling in football and shot put before attending Northwestern. Despite going undrafted, he joined the Indianapolis Colts in 2005 and appeared in 10 games during his career, ultimately winning the Super Bowl XLI alongside Peyton Manning and his team.

In retirement, Ulrich started a fitness company and ventured into business. Following his sudden death, a fundraiser has been set up to support his family, raising nearly $30,000 over the past 18 hours.
