Eve Myles Biography

Eve Myles was born in Ystradgynlais on the 26th day of July 1978. She went to school in Ysgol Maes Y Dderwen with other future actors; Richard Corgan and Steve Meo as his classmates. Strange as it may seem, Eve Myles probably would have been an MMA fighter by now had her boxing career aspirations not been truncated by a knee injury.

Myles would later go to the Royal Welsh College of Music and Drama in Cardiff where she graduated with a Bachelor of Acting in 2000 after which she moved to London to improve her chances of a successful acting career.

Eve Myles made her television debut, appearing in small parts on series like Nuts and Bolts. Later in 2000, Myles had his first big gig. the role of Ceri Owens in the BBC drama Who Belong. She would play the role for 9 years, ending in 2009. At the time of this writing, that span is the longest Myles has ever had on a single role. She could pass for her signature role.

During her breaks from the show, Eve Myles proved her versatility by taking on other projects. This would include roles in EastEnders: Dot’s StoryColditz and of course Doctor Who. After his character on Doctor Who became one of the leads in the spin-off Torchwood, it was clear that the end of his days of belonging was near.

Three years into Torchwood, Myles left Belonging. Her role in Torchwood spanned a successful five years, earning her unprecedented critical acclaim. The role won her the 2007 BAFTA Cymru Award for Best Actress – the first award of her career. She also won the SFX Award for Best Actress alongside two other coveted nominations.

During his time on Affairs, Myles made time to guest appear on other shows, including Merlin, Little Dorrit, and A Bit of Tom Jones

Although Torchwood ended on television in 2011, it continued on radio from 2015 with Myles still reprising his role. As of this writing, it continues to air on the radio. However, this has not been his only radio show, others include; Milkwood (2014), Blind Terror: The Gods of Frost, 19 Weeks, and more. Eve Myles was in radio from 2008 before Torchwood came to radio.

In addition to playing film and television roles, Myles has also acted in theater. She is also revered for her acting career. Some of the plays she has presented include The Mastery of the Street (2003), Henri IV (2005), and All New People (2012). Myles narrated two audiobooks. She narrated Dan Abnett ‘s Border Princes in 2007 and Joseph Lidster’s Into the Shadows 2009.

Eve Myles is married to actor Bradley Freegard. They first met at the National Youth Theater in 1994. Freegard has several television series credits, including Teulu, EastEnders, Holby City, Doctors, Keep Faith, and Victim, among others. Myles and Freegard married in May 2013.

Eve Myles has two children with her husband. Their first daughter, Matilda, was born in 2009, 4 years before their marriage. Their second daughter was born in 2014. Torchwood ‘s fourth series was shot in Hollywood and it prompted Myles and his family to move to California for a year. She mentioned that it was the best year of her life and that she would like to return to Hollywood in the future.
