BIOGRAPHY
Supported by his parents, notably his father himself an actor, Eric McCormack attended a theater school for three years, before going on tour as part of a festival staging – among others – plays by Shakespeare . The young man then moved to Vancouver and made his television debut ( Rintintin junior , ENG , Street Justice ). In 1992, he obtained one of the main roles in Return to the Lost World and its sequel The Lost World , adapted from the work of Arthur Conan Doyle , before leaving for Los Angeles to conquer the American market. Thus, the following year, the actor played the father of the Olsen sisters in Double Twins, Double Problems , and auditioned twice for the role of Ross Geller in Friends , ultimately attributed to David Schwimmer . It was in the western series The Lonesome Dove and then its spin-off The Lonesome Dove: The Outlaw Years that he distinguished himself. Impressed by his performance, in the skin of Colonel Francis Clay Mosby, the producers of Highlander created a character especially for him, for an episode of the fifth season. Eric McCormack then appeared in Townies , Les Dessous de Veronica and Ally McBeal , before working alongside Eddie Murphy in the comedy Mister G. , a critical and commercial failure.
His career took a fundamental turning point in 1998, thanks to the phenomenon Will & Grace , rewarded with sixteen Emmy Awards during its eight seasons. Eric McCormack plays Will Truman, a lawyer gradually coming to terms with his homosexuality, and cohabiting with his best friend Grace Adler ( Debra Messing ). In the meantime, he starred alongside Jennifer Love Hewitt in the biopic Audrey Hepburn, A Life , playing actor Mel Ferrer . When Will & Grace came to an end in 2006, the actor launched into production with two projects, which only had a short duration: Lovespring International and Imperfect Union . He rebounded in 2008 with the main role of a TV reporter addicted to cocaine in the science fiction mini-series Andromeda Menace , then became the therapist and potential lover of Julia Louis-Dreyfus in the fifth season of Old Christine.
In 2012, in the series Perception , which he produced, Eric McCormack lent his features to Daniel Pierce, an eccentric and paranoid neuroscientist, teaching at university, forming an effective team with one of his former students, Kate Moretti ( Rachael Leigh Cook ), within the FBI. The actor once again leads the investigation as a detective in the TV movie A Killer with the Face of an Angel , before joining the cast of the anthology Full Circle . The Time Travelers team called on him to play Grant McLaren, the leader of a group from the future to save the human species, for two seasons, before NBC confirmed an event revival of Will & Grace , in 2017 .Lucie
