EPL: The Reason behind My Move from Manchester City to Chelsea – Cole Palmer

In explaining his decision to join Chelsea from Premier League champions Manchester City, Cole Palmer, Chelsea’s summer signing, shed light on his motives.

Palmer secured a long-term contract with Chelsea during the summer transfer window.

The 21-year-old, who played in the England Under 21 side’s victory over Luxembourg on Monday, expressed his desire for more first-team playing opportunities as the reason for joining Mauricio Pochettino’s team.

“I never shied away from competition (for places at Man City),” Palmer said. He further explained his decision to move to the west London club, stating, “I had been around the first team for a few years and wanted more playing chances in my position to make a bigger impact.”

The move to Chelsea was a significant decision for Palmer. Reflecting on it, he shared, “When I left the training ground on Thursday, I already knew I would be going to London the next day. Everything hit me all at once while sitting in the car and driving out. I couldn’t help but think, ‘You’ve been here for 15 years.'”

Palmer emphasized how unfamiliar the change feels for him, stating, “I haven’t experienced anything else. I’ve never been on loan and I’ve never moved out of Manchester. The only time I’ve been outside Manchester is for holidays or away games. Going there feels strange, but there’s no time to waste. I need to get down to work.”
