Dunkin' Donuts Opens Sparks Location |

Nevada donut lovers are rejoicing as the first Dunkin' Donuts shop in Reno/Sparks opened its doors Tuesday morning at Outlets in Sparks.

Yes, donuts are sweet. So is coffee. But the economy is a little sweeter, too.

"Things are going well," said Mayor Geno Martini. "Things are turning around and going in the right direction. So we're pleased. This is a good sign for the economy."

The store hired 60 employees.

The Carson City location opened in December, and there are plans to expand even further.

"Our rights go all the way to Winnemucca, to Truckee and to (Lake) Tahoe," said Nicole Hansen, franchise owner of Dunkin' Donuts. "So we can do 9-10 stores. We may even do 15, just depending on our growth."

The donut shop plans on expanding to south Reno sometime in 2016.
