The individual responsible for the death of Robert Maraj, Nicki Minaj’s father, in a hit-and-run incident has been given a 1-year jail term.
Charles Polevich was handed a 1-year jail sentence on Wednesday, August 3, after pleading guilty to two felony charges – leaving the scene of an incident without reporting and tampering with physical evidence.
In addition, his driver’s license will be suspended for 6 months, and he is required to pay a $5,000 fine.
Polevich was potentially facing up to 7 years in jail, but Judge Howard Sturim adhered to a commitment to sentence him to no more than one year in jail.
Nicki Minaj’s father passed away in February 2021 at the age of 64 after being struck in a hit-and-run accident while walking on Long Island.
