In a recent episode of the Zero Conditions podcast, music executive and CEO of Mavin Records, Michael Collins Ajereh, also known as Don Jazzy, finally addressed the ongoing rumors about the potential sale of the record label.
Notably, in October 2023, Billboard reported that Mavin Records might be seeking investment or considering a full sale, with interest from the Universal Music Group, HYBE, and other music asset investors in the financial sector.
However, Don Jazzy implied that the label is not actively pursuing a sale but rather receiving interest from potential investors.
He emphasized the profitability and potential of Mavin Records, which has attracted attention from foreign investors.
Don Jazzy acknowledged the existing partnership with Kupanda Holdings for five years and indicated that the partnership may not last indefinitely.
Regarding the rumors about the sale of Mavin Records, he commented, “It’s simple. We have investors, Kupanda Holdings, and they have been here for five years now, so they will eventually leave.”
He further added, “Obviously, a lot of people are interested in investing in Mavin. If you have gold or diamonds, people will always want to do business with you. And Mavin Records has a lot of potential.”
