In 2008, the actress improvised as a waitress for the first season of Raw , a series about the daily life of a Dublin restaurant. The following year, she was the wife of an astronaut ( Sam Rockwell ) on a mission to a space station in Duncan Jones ‘ feature film Moon .
Dominique McElligott began her American career by opposite James Purefoy and Neve Campbell in the short NBC series, The Philanthropist . It was in 2011 that the role of Lily Bell exposed her to the forefront alongside Anson Mount and Colm Meaney in the AMC show, Hell on Wheels . In this western series set at the time of the construction of the first transcontinental railroad, she plays a woman whose husband is brutally murdered by a Cheyenne tribe. Saved at the last minute by the hero, Cullen Bohannon, a former landowner from the southern United States and ex-officer in the Confederate States Army, the young widow must find her place in a particularly difficult world.
In 2015, the actress was part of the Astronaut Wives Club clan , a series developed by Stephanie Savage , already behind Gossip Girl . Her character, Louise Shepard, the wife of Alan ( Desmond Harrington ), is nicknamed “Saint Louise” by her sisters, because of her unfailing devotion to her husband. The public subsequently found it in seasons 4 and 5 of the House of Cards phenomenon . In this Netflix series with Kevin Spacey and Robin Wright , she plays Hannah Conway, the wife of the Republican candidate ( Joel Kinnaman ) for the presidency of the United States.
Changing eras once again, Dominique McElligott is propelled into 1930s Hollywood with The Last Tycoon . In this Amazon series, she has a relationship with the “golden boy” Monroe Stahr played byMatt Bomer . The show did not go beyond the first season and allowed him to join the team of The Boys , still for the American platform. In this program by Eric Kripke , she lends her features to Queen Maeve, a formidable warrior who is one of the Seven, superheroes acclaimed around the world. Over the seasons, the series reveals behind the scenes of a system motivated by financial interests managed by the Vought company. Behind their popularity, these vigilantes are only marketing products, forced to be represented, under contract with Vought. To occupy this envied position, Maeve had to give up a lot of things. Disillusioned and cynical, she is now a shadow of the determined idealist she once was.
