Sebastien Haller, aged 28 and a striker for Borussia Dortmund, is set to undergo chemotherapy following the diagnosis of a malignant testicular tumour.
The player, who transferred to Borussia Dortmund from Ajax for £27 million in July, will undergo treatment for several months, as confirmed by the German club on Saturday, July 30. Despite the challenging conditions, the club remains hopeful for his recovery.
Haller’s health issue came to light earlier this month when he reported feeling unwell during training with his new club, eventually leading to the diagnosis and subsequent surgery.
Sebastian Kehl, the sporting director of Dortmund, expressed confidence in Haller’s treatment, stating, “Sebastien will now receive the best possible treatment. The chances of recovery are very good. We wish him and his family a lot of strength and optimism and our thoughts are with him during this difficult time.”
Haller, in his social media update, informed his fans about completing the initial phase of his treatment, thanking Borussia Dortmund and the medical staff for their exceptional support, along with expressing gratitude towards the hospital nursing staff for their benevolence.
