Danny Amendola Bio
Danny was born in Woodlands, Texas on November 2, 1985 to Wille and Rose Amendola. His name at birth was Daniel James Amendola. His father is half Italian and his mother is half Irish. So he is of mixed ethnicity.
Amendola isn’t his parents’ only child, he has an older brother named Matt Amendola, who also played college football at Baylor University. And for Danny, he began his football career under coach Weldon Willig at Woodlands High School in The Woodlands, Texas. He led his team to their first-ever state championship game before ending his senior season with a total of 8 touchdowns with 129 rush yards and 1,045 receiving yards.
After high school, Danny attended Texas Tech where he played college football. He didn’t make many defensive appearances as a freshman but was the team’s best returnee. At the end of his first season with the team, he was named an All-Big 12 First Team as the punt return specialist.
His senior season was one of his best seasons, recording six touchdowns, one hundred and nine (109) catches for 1,245 yards. By the end of his collegiate career, he was a total of two hundred and four (204) receptions for 2,246 yards and fifteen touchdowns. As a punt returner, he recorded 116 punts for 1,283 yards and 1 touchdown, giving him an 11.06 yards per return average and earning him the third all-time punt return in school history after Tyrone Thurman and Thurman Wes Welker.
NFL career, stats, injuries
Amendola began his NFL maintenance in 2008 with the Dallas Cowboys as an undrafted free agent, but in August of that year he was reinstated on the team’s practice roster, where he spent the entire regular season and never appeared in the team’s regular-season games .
When his contract with the Cowboys expired, the Philadelphia Eagles signed him to their practice squad. A few weeks later, he was switched to a future contract. He was recalled in September and later resigned to the practice group.
Danny Amendola later signed with the St. Louis Rams, with whom he made his first NFL regular season appearance. That season, he recorded 1 touchdown as a slot receiver and caught 43 passes for 326 yards. He also returned a total of sixty-six kickoffs for 1,618 yards and thirty-one punts for three hundred and sixty yards.
The following year (2010), he played in just 6 games and for 2,364 yards, including 689 yards on 85 receptions, 81 on seven rush attempts, 1,142 yards on 50 kickoff returns, and 452 yards on 40 punt returns, he led the NFL in all-purpose yards.
In 2012, he suffered a dislocated clavicle in a game against the Arizona Cardinals, an injury so bad it could have killed him. He had to be anesthetized to get the collarbone back in place. Due to the severity of the injury, team officials were unsure if he would return, but recovered faster than expected and returned to the team. He finished what happened to be his last season with the franchise with 84 total yards.

In March 2013, Amendola signed a 5-year contract with the New England Patriots, valued at $28.5 million, with $10 million in guaranteed money. He spent five seasons with the team and during those five years Danny Amendola won two Super Bowls (XLIX and LI) with the team.
