BIOGRAPHY
Cote De Pablo was born under the name Maria José de Pablo Fernandez on November 12, 1979 in Santiago, Chile but she spent part of her childhood in Miami to follow her mother who became director of the Telemundo branch . Always passionate about comedy, especially theater, she enrolled at Arvida Middle School of Miami and Carlegie-Melton University in Pittsburgh, where she graduated in 2000. Cote began her career in 1998, in the soap
opera The Force of Destiny for 2 years where she will rub shoulders with Lauren Holly , her future colleague in another series; Then in the series The Street by Darren Star (The producer of Beverly Hills , Melrose Place and Sex and The City ) where she played Fiona for 3 episodes and in 2004 in The Jury of which she was a headliner in the skin of Marguerite Cisneros but the series will be stopped after 10 episodes.
It was only the following year that Cote gained notoriety by joining the cast of the series NCIS: Special Investigations , arriving in the 3rd season of the police show in 2005, Cote played the role of the liaison officer from Mossad Ziva David, she arrives to compensate for the departure of actress Sasha Alexander (Special Agent Kate Todd killed at the end of season 2), initially hired for a few episodes; the public will offer a warm welcome to Ziva in the team of special agent Leroy Jethro Gibbs ( Mark Harmon ) and will allow Cote to appear in the credits of NCIS from episode 10 of season 3. His cold to heavy character past and her game of cat and mouse with the “very” special agent Anthony Dinozzo ( Michael Weatherly with whom she is very close in life) will evolve from year to year so much so that Cote will be nominated twice for the Alma Awards (Qu (she won in 2011 as best actress in a drama series) and at the Imagen Awards; A ceremony where Latino personalities are rewarded.
Everything smiles on her and yet in 2013, Cote De Pablo decides to everyone’s surprise to leave NCIS a few weeks before the start of filming for the 11th season, the actress wishes to take care of her family and at the same time declares that she does not is more recognizable in Ziva and in the Tiva (nickname given by fans of the Tony-Ziva couple) who goes around in circles. As a result, the actress does not prefer to renegotiate her contract despite the insistence of the members of the casting, the producers and the CBS channel.. Cote will still film in the first 2 episodes of the 11th season to offer a way out for Ziva but will not return for the farewell of Michael Weatherly who also left NCIS in 2016.
Cote de Pablo will play in a few films from 2002 unfortunately went unnoticed in France: Measure by Measure in the role of Juliette, When I will be big in 2003 and The 33 in 2015 (Based on the true story of Chilean miners stuck underground for 1 month) where she plays alongside ‘ Antonio Banderas and in the mini-series The Dovekeepers on CBS (the same channel where NCIS is broadcast ). Also has hidden talents besides comedy: She speaks 5 languages (English, Spanish, French, Italian and Portuguese) and sings divinely well. We can hear him cover the Tom Waits song ; Temptation both in English and French in the 1st episode of the 6th season of NCIS but also the song I don’t believe anymore and Gracias a la Vida in the soundtrack of The 33 .
She also did a Broadway musical in 2006 called The Mambo Kings which also played in San Francisco and after a 10-year stage hiatus; Cote will return to the stage in 2016 in a play in Boston and will appear in the credits of the fantasy series Prototype for the SyFy channel .
