There has been growing anticipation for the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations, accompanied by recent speculation concerning the true age of Gabon national team player, Guélor Kanga Kaku.
Origins of the Issue:
The Congolese Football Federation, FECOFA, filed a complaint with CAF on May 26, 2021, alleging fraudulent manipulation of the identity of GUELOR KANGA as registered by the Gabonese Football Federation, where he is listed as a Gabonese citizen.
FECOFA asserts in its complaint that the player’s true identity is KIAKU KIAKU KIANGANI Guelor, born on October 8, 1985, in Kinshasa, and claims that he is of Congolese origin.
Consequently, FECOFA argues that the player’s registration with FEGAFOOT as an internationally representing player of the Gabonese Football Federation is deceptive, raising doubts about his eligibility.
