Claire Hosterman was born on March 10, 1989 in Seattle, Washington. She was born to parents Phillip Alan Hosterman and Bonnie Wallace. Claire is seven years older than her sister Dove, but despite her age barrier, Claire and Dove were extremely close to each other. Her father, Phillip, was the founder of the Kandahar Trading Company, which dealt in ethnic fashion accessories. It was he who raised the passion for music among his daughters. Claire’s mom, on the other hand, was a writer. She is also the author of The Hollywood Parents Guide.

It was a very happy family, but things were not working out for their parents. They later divorced and Claire lost her father when she was very young. Now coming to her academic studies, Claire joined Bainbridge High School in 2007. She later graduated in Anthropology from Pitzer College, California. Ella Claire then began learning voice in Seattle, Washington, Paris, and Los Angeles for just over 10 years.

After studying voice for such a long period of time, Claire began teaching voice to people of various ages. She started her own studio in Burbanks and was getting very successful along the way. She even started giving lessons online via Skype and people were lining up to learn from her. This act put her on the World Music Map and she enjoyed teaching people from all over the world.

Hosterman still continues to give voice lessons to his students and is sharing all that he has learned over the years. She is passing on techniques to help her students enrich her voice and navigate through many styles of singing. In doing this, Claire has made appearances at the Bainbridge Festival of Young Playwrights and the Performing Arts in 2008. For her contribution to music, Claire received the 7th Annual Amy Award for 2008 Emerging Artist.
