She was born Cindy Brokes in Knoxville, Tennessee where she grew up with her family. Cindy was very interested in sports and was a cheerleader at the University of Tennessee, where she taught and met Jon Gruden, who was an assistant professor at the same university. She studied classical piano and music pedagogy as well as educational administration.

He has worked with the San Francisco 49ers, Pittsburgh, Pacific, Green Bay Packers, Philadelphia Eagles and Tampa Bay Buccaneers to name a few. In between his coaching careers, he also worked as a football analyst for ESPN.
