Chidzambwa: Zimbabwe should not show Super Eagles respect in 2026 WCQ

The former head coach of Zimbabwe, Sunday Chidzambwa, has urged the Warriors to give their best performance when they face the Super Eagles of Nigeria this month.

The Huye Stadium will host the 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifier between the Warriors and the Super Eagles on Monday, October 20.

The Super Eagles are considered strong favorites to win the match.

Chidzambwa, however, has advised Baltermar Brito’s team not to show excessive respect towards the Super Eagles.

“We should not have too much respect for them; instead, we should play our own style of football, fight for the entire ninety minutes, and achieve positive results for our nation,” he stated on the official website of the Zimbabwe Football Association.

Prior to the game against the Super Eagles, Zimbabwe will also face Rwanda’s Amavubi team.

The other teams in their group include the Squirrels of Benin Republic, the Crocodiles of Lesotho, and Bafana Bafana of South Africa.

The team that finishes in first place in the group will secure a spot in the 2026 World Cup, which will be jointly hosted by the USA, Mexico, and Canada.
