Grand Prize Winner William Henry Cosby Jr was born on July 12, 1937 in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania as one of four sons of Anna Pearl, who was a housekeeper, and William Henry Cosby Sr., mess steward in the US Navy. In his early days, Cosby attended Mary Channing Wister Public School in Philadelphia and served as class president, as well as baseball and track and field team captain.
You would think that such responsibilities were reserved for serious students, but Cosby was not, he was known to be an unserious student who would spend his time clowning around rather than studying. He also attended FitzSimons Junior High School, where he was known as the class clown who enjoyed creating fun wherever he went. Soon, young talents began to perform in school plays.
Bill also attended Philadelphia Central HighSchool, a college-preparatory school where he played football, basketball, and other athletic events. He was later transferred to Germantown High School. Unfortunately, he failed tenth grade and instead of repeating it, Cosby dropped out of high school altogether and enlisted in the United States Navy. During his four years of service in the U.S. Navy, Cosby earned a correspondence course equivalent of his high school diploma. A well-built athlete, Bill won an athletic scholarship to study at Temple University in 1961.
In college, Cosby continued to use his skills as a clown to make people laugh. When he started working as a bartender in a club in Philadelphia, he demonstrated his talent and made people laugh. His potentials earned him extra guidance at the club, which led to Cosby dropping out of college to pursue a career in comedy theatre.

Television career
The entertainer made his television debut in 1965, when he starred in the lead role I Spy on NBC’s adventure series Espionage. He also started other projects like The Bill Cosby Show in 1984 and Fat Albert and The Cosby Kids. When The Cosby Show ended in 1992 after 8 years running on NBC, Cosby didn’t seem to have reached the limit of his talent with the show. His movie Leonard Part 6 which was produced in 1987 was considered one of the worst American movies in history and probably contributed to his downfall as an actor.
The star, however, had planned to return in 1996 after starring in the Robbin Williams film Jack and a few films including Little Bill in 1999 and Groomsmen in 2000.
