Benny’s career took off in 1947 when he changed his name in honor of his favorite comedian, Jack Benny, and started working as a radio performer in various shows, often alongside Reg Varney. His big break came with the launch of his own “The Benny Hill Show” in 1955, which ran for 40 years and significantly contributed to his net worth. In 1956, he portrayed Hugo Dill in the film “Who Done It?”, directed by Basil Dearden.
