Arsenal announce the signing of midfielder Fabio Vieira from Porto for £30 million


The £30 million signing of midfielder Fabio Vieira from Porto has been officially announced by Arsenal. Vieira, 22, is the first major signing for Arsenal in the summer transfer window, joining goalkeeper Matt Turner and Brazilian forward Marquinhos. The deal includes £4m of achievable performance-related add-ons.

Vieira expressed his pride in joining Arsenal, citing his admiration for the club’s playing style and naming past players like Dennis Bergkamp, Cesc Fabregas, Santi Cazorla, and Thierry Henry. Manager Mikel Arteta also expressed excitement over the signing, describing Vieira as a special talent that will bring high quality and versatility to the team’s attacking play.

The Portuguese midfielder, who shares a namesake with former Gunners midfielder Patrick Vieira, will wear the No 21 shirt for Arsenal. Vieira emphasized that he is looking forward to contributing to the team with his attacking qualities.
