Arsenal announce £105million signing of Declan Rice from West Ham

The official deal is here! Arsenal is thrilled to confirm the joining of Declan Rice from West Ham for a record-breaking £105m. The Gunners persisted with multiple bids before ultimately reaching an agreement with the London club.

Rice, an English midfielder, has signed a lucrative five-year contract with Arsenal, extending until 2028 and reportedly earning £250,000 weekly. The addition of Rice bolsters Arsenal’s summer signings, including Kai Havertz for £65m from Chelsea and Jurrien Timber for £40m from Ajax.

Departing from West Ham after a decade, Rice’s remarkable journey from a youth-team player to club captain culminated in lifting the Europa Conference League trophy, marking the end of his 245 appearances for the Hammers.

The £105m transfer fee consists of an initial £100m payment spread over 24 months, with add-ons of £5m, triggered by Arsenal’s Champions League qualification and Rice’s participation in 60% of matches. In a statement to the Arsenal website, Rice expressed his determination to elevate his game with the Gunners and lauded the leadership of manager Mikel Arteta.

Arteta, speaking to the club’s official website, expressed his delight in welcoming Rice and highlighted his exceptional abilities, significant experience, and leadership qualities. Similarly, Arsenal’s sporting director, Edu, praised Rice’s talent and international track record, emphasizing the strategic alignment with the club’s youthful competitiveness.

The official announcement marks the beginning of a new chapter for Rice at Arsenal, where he aspires to contribute to the club’s resurgence under Arteta’s guidance.
