Arrival of Victor Osimhen, Ahmed Musa, and 20 Others at the Camp for the Sierra Leone Match

AFCON 2023 Qualifier: Victor Osimhen, Ahmed Musa, 20 Others Arrive Camp for Sierra Leone Match

Twenty-two players from the Super Eagles have reported to the camp for the upcoming Group A Africa Cup of Nations Qualifier match against Sierra Leone at the Samuel Kanyon Doe Sports Complex in Liberia on Sunday.

Jose Peseiro’s team previously secured a 2-1 victory over the Leone Stars at the MKO Abiola National Stadium in Abuja during their last outing in June last year, which was played without any fans in attendance.

The absence of fans was a result of Nigeria’s one-match ban imposed by FIFA following the incidents that occurred after the FIFA World Cup playoff round against the Black Stars of Ghana in March 2022.

This upcoming match will be hosted in Liberia due to Sierra Leone’s suspension from hosting international matches on their home soil.

Players who were present at the camp on Tuesday, June 13, include Victor Osimhen from Napoli, team captain Ahmed Musa, Troost Ekong from Salernitana, AdemolaLookman, Joe Aribo, Alex Iwobi from Everton, Bassey, Ajayi, Akpoguma, and Zaidu.

Other players in attendance are Kenneth Omeruo, Wilfred Ndidi and Kelechi Iheanacho from Leicester, Taiwo Awoniyi, Moses Simon, Adeleye, Sochima, Ojo, Duru, Samuel, Divine, and Onyeka.

The Super Eagles currently hold the top position in the table with 9 points, having secured three wins and suffering one defeat.

Meanwhile, the Leone Stars have managed only one win in the qualifiers and will need to secure a victory to stand a chance of qualifying for the 2023 AFCON, which is scheduled to be held in Ivory Coast in 2024.
