An individual suspected of kidnapping a child was apprehended on Wednesday, May 12, in Dangamvura, a suburban area of Mutare in Zimbabwe.
The woman was swiftly apprehended by members of the public who caught her in the act, dealing out what was described as “instant justice.”
Authorities from the Zimbabwe Republic Police confirmed the incident and cautioned against the practice of resorting to immediate vigilante justice by attacking suspected individuals.
The woman, identified only as Melody so far, has not revealed her motive for the act.
A statement from the Zimbabwe Republic Police stated;
“Police in Mutare are investigating a case of kidnapping, where a woman approximately 30 years old, snatched a minor (2) today in Dangamvura.
“The suspect, who was clad in apostolic white garments, was noticed by an alert neighbour whilst walking away with the baby before she was attacked by members of the public. Meanwhile, the ZRP warns members of the public against meting instant justice”
