Arnold Schwarzenegger, actor and film producer, faced a challenge in revealing to his then-wife Maria Shriver about his secret son with their housekeeper Mildred Baena.

The Sun reported Schwarzenegger’s revelation about the bombshell that Joseph Baena, now 25, was his son.

The forthcoming three-part Netflix docuseries will showcase how Schwarzenegger opened up about his and Shriver’s marriage counseling during his tenure as Governor of California.

He was quoted saying, “One day, the counselor said, ‘Today Maria wants to be very specific about something.’ She wants to know if you’re the father of Joseph. I thought my heart stopped. And then I told the truth. ‘Yes, Maria. Joseph is my son’. She was obviously crushed by that.”

The couple, who got married in 1986 and have four children, faced the affair with their housekeeper Mildred Baena in 1996.

Schwarzenegger mentioned that he and Baena initially believed she was impregnated by her husband, but he began to suspect otherwise as Joseph grew older.

“In the beginning I really didn’t know, but the older he got, the more it became clear to me,” Schwarzenegger said. “It was then just a matter of, ‘How do you keep this quiet?’”

The docuseries “Arnold” is set to premiere on Wednesday, June 7 on Netflix.
