It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of Nollywood actor Chikezie Uwazie in the United States.
Uwazie, who moved to the US seven years ago, had been a prominent figure in the Nigerian movie industry during the 2000s. A close associate, Obey Etok Chima, confirmed the news of Uwazie’s passing, revealing that he succumbed after undergoing a second brain surgery.
Chima expressed her shock and disbelief, stating, “I can’t believe I’m posting this. I can’t imagine am posting this. Chikezie Uwazie goneeeee. After a 2nd brain surgery. Gini na emezi. Am so shocked to get this news this evening. Just got this from our IMSU alumni platform. I thought you told me you were going to the states for greener pastures. You promised to come back some years back but I didn’t see you. Can’t believe you are gone but God knows best. Rest on Chyko”.
This tragic news follows closely on the heels of the recent deaths of beloved Nollywood actors Saint Obi and Murphy Afolabi, compounding the sense of loss within the industry.
