Angie Lassman Biography
Angie Lassman is an American meteorologist currently working as a weekend Noon & 4 p.m. meteorologist at NBC6 South Florida. She is excited to return to Florida as part of The First Alert Weather Team. Prior to joining the First Alert Weather team, Lassman was the weekday morning meteorologist at FOX26 KNPN in Sint Joseph, Missouri.
A native of Fraser, she was recruited to play volleyball for the Florida Institute of Technology. Lassman graduated from the Department of Ocean Engineering and Sciences in 2012 with a Bachelor of Science in Technology. She also continued at FIT to earn her Masters of Science in Meteorology and to co-author a chapter in the book titled “Climate Change and Regional/Local Responses.”
Angie was part of a scientific research team at FIT, a collegiate athlete, a two-year team captain, and a college instructor. She was also a Facilitator for the FIT Department of Space Sciences, educating Florida Division for Emergency Management officials and law enforcement on proper procedures and crisis management in case of a coronal mass ejection weather emergency.
As a scientist, Angie feels the rise of extreme weather has highlighted a need for more educated voices in the field of broadcast meteorology. She hopes to utilize the TV weather platform to have a positive impact on the community and to play an important role in providing viewers with the most accurate developing storm updates as well as critical safety information throughout her career.
She is proud to take the next step in her career in South Florida. Additionally, in her spare time, she enjoys the beach, photography, traveling, and fashion but most of all Lassman loves people. Lassman hopes to inspire others to be fearless in life, try new things, and have fun doing them.
