Amari Seldon Suicide – Elari Amari Tributary: A heartbreaking occurrence that occurred on campus on Tuesday, October 25, 2023, has left the University of Maryland in a state of mourning. An investigation into the untimely death of Amari Seldon, a sophomore psychology student, is still underway at the University of Maryland Police Department (UMPD).
The disturbing information surfaced on Tuesday afternoon when a student was found dead in the northern area of SECU Stadium. Vice President of Student Affairs at the University Patty Perillo sent out an email on Tuesday night informing the entire school community of this tragic information. Perillo highlighted the intense suffering the loss causes the university community as she voiced her heartfelt sorrow over it.
According to the email, the next of kin were duly notified of the tragic news on the same day, as per practice. While Amari Seldon’s identity was first kept a secret, it has since been revealed, which is consistent with the email’s previous account. Amari was a part of the esteemed College of Behavioural and Social Sciences at the university, according to an email sent to students on Tuesday by Susan Rivera, the dean of the college.
Furthermore, it was confirmed in a different email sent to the residents of Denton Hall by the university’s Resident Life Department that Amari indeed lived there. The Maryland Chief Medical Examiner’s Office will determine the formal cause of death for Amari, according to information provided to The Diamondback by UMPD spokesperson Lt. Rosanne Hoaas. It was also made clear that, in light of this incidence, there is no imminent threat to the university community.
