However, his evil doppelganger, Mr. Scratch, manipulates the story to create real-life horror. Saga learns about her seer abilities and that the real Alan is trapped in the Dark Place. She tries to summon him but realizes Alan and Scratch are the same person. Saga banishes Scratch and ends up in the Dark Place. Alan attempts to write a new ending while Saga fights to escape. In the end, Alan seemingly sacrifices himself to stop Scratch, and Saga's fate is left uncertain. A post-credits scene hints at a deeper plan to free Alan from the loops.
