Oyindamola Sanni, an actress and producer, has revealed that she doesn’t have any specific role models in the movie industry. Instead, she looks up to the greats of Nollywood, such as Kunle Afolayan, Femi Adebayo, Odunlade Adekola, and Funke Akindele.
These iconic figures, who began their careers as actors and later transitioned into directing and producing films, have provided her with the roadmap to carve her own path in the industry.
Despite facing the challenges of balancing acting and full-time education at the beginning, Oyindamola Sanni managed to overcome them. She also navigated through other challenges, including the disturbing practice of exchanging sex for roles. As a result, she has produced nine movies to date.
Looking back on her first movie production, which she considers the most memorable event in her life, Sanni shared, “Although I had already appeared in several movies at the time, being a producer and executive producer alongside living legends like Fathia Balogun and Yemi Solade was truly an achievement for me.”
Sanni also emphasized the importance of maintaining one’s faith and principles in the industry. She explained, “As a beginner, while honing my skills, I couldn’t accept every role that came my way because some conflicted with my Christian beliefs. Rejecting certain roles posed a challenge, but I embraced the saying, ‘Be true to yourself, and the world will adjust’.”
She concluded, “I continued to push through and endure, keeping my eyes on the ultimate goal. Although I haven’t reached my desired destination yet, I have certainly come a long way from where I started.”
