Wyllie Longmore, the actor best known for his roles in Coronation Street and Love Actually, has passed away at the age of 82 after battling cancer.

The actor peacefully passed away on Thursday, January 5, with his wife by his side.

Longmore gained recognition for his portrayal of Dr. McKinnon in Coronation Street during the Nineties and also had appearances in The Bill, Between the Lines, Casualty, Merseybeat, Waking the Dead, and Cold Feet.

His daughter Jessica shared the news on Facebook, expressing, “I want to share the news that my father, Wyllie Longmore passed away yesterday evening. He had been living with Cancer, but passed away peacefully with my mum by his side.”

She also added, “Please feel free to share this news in your networks. I will post information in due course about the quiet funeral we have planned and the celebratory event of his life and career, that will come later.”

Longmore made his soap debut in 1992 as Dr. McKinnon on Coronation Street and also appeared in Love Actually as an advisor to David, the Prime Minister (Hugh Grant).

Besides his TV work, he had a successful stint in theatre, earning the Best Actor award at the Manchester Evening News awards for his performance in My Children! My Africa! at the Octagon Theatre in 1995.
