Charged with the comic book theft, actor Ray Buffer is now facing a day in court. Surveillance video allegedly captures him in the act of stealing the merchandise.
Southern California Comics has accused Ray of stealing $600 worth of comic books. They provided the police with security camera footage of the entire incident.
Another comic shop in L.A. County also claimed to have similar footage of Ray trying to steal comics from their store. The owner was seen on camera kicking him out for the attempt.
A representative for the San Diego City Attorney informed TMZ that Ray has been charged with one count of misdemeanor petty theft stemming from the October 2022 incident. He pleaded not guilty at his arraignment in January, and another court hearing is scheduled for next week.
The owner of Southern California Comics reported being informed by the City Attorney’s office that Ray’s lawyer is seeking to negotiate a deal by paying restitution to the shop and enrolling in a diversion program. However, the shop owner does not consider this sufficient.
